Over forty rider's took part in Skakerag's New Year's day hunt on a spring day in January. We had a coyote up and running early in the day. He ran through Child's, then across Sam Swindle Rd., where he gave us the slip. We drew down to Harriet Mueller's Gone Away Farm, but never did find the sneaky fellow.

The Masters hosted the New Year's Day breakfast at the clubhouse. There were over 65 guest who had a great breakfast prepared by Doug & Kay Bridges et al. Happy New Year to all!

Tuseday, December 28, 2004 the Novice/Junior hunt was held at the Shakerag Hounds Clubhouse. The day was absolutely beautiful with over 70 riders following the hounds through our lovely hunt country. The field was divided into thirds- members, juniors, and novice riders. The hounds picked at a few night lines, but could not get anything up and running. The end of the day was blown near the tally-ho wagon in Harriet Mueller's hay field. The junior staff assisted Mr. Rod Swanson, huntsman, in escorting the hounds back to the kennels. Lunch was served at the clubhouse and enjoyed by all.

Fay Bohlayer exhibited and sold some of her art work on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the clubhouse. Fay generously donated a portion of the proceeds of her sales to Shakerag. Thanks Fay for the art work and the donation.

Thanks to all the Shakerag members for their donations to the Madison County food bank. Connie Washburn's Madison County Middle School Special Education Class picked up the food from the clubhouse and delivered it to the food bank. Shakerag members brought canned goods and some made monetary donations. The food bank really needs help during the holiday season, a basket for donations of non-perishable food items is located at the clubhouse. Thanks to Rod for spearheading this drive, and Connie's Madison County Middle School class for delivering the food to the food bank.

A great time was had by the over 175 people at the sixty-first annual Shakerag Hounds opening meet. The riders numbered over seventy-five of which sixty-one were Shakerag members. The tally-ho wagons provided transportation for another seventy-five people and there were several car followers. The day was overcast and the temperature was in the sixties. The hounds tried hard to find a fox or coyote, but got nothing up and running for long. At the end of a beautiful ride through the countryside we returned to the clubhouse for breakfast with over 175 in attendance.
